The TeenTech GLOBAL Civic Hackathon is an online peer-led opportunity for teens to explore the world of STEM! Three winning teams from our hackathon advance to the TeenTech Global Youth Summit & World Pitch Finals.
What Makes the TeenTech GLOBAL Civic Hackathon Unique?
- Social Impact Goal: Tech Solutions to Civic Problems
- Free, Beginners Welcome: Special Award for New Hackers
- Open to Anyone, Anywhere: Equal Access to Tech for Teens
All are welcome in two action-packed days of workshops, panels, and prizes, as teens collaborate to develop tech solutions to solve problems in our own communities! This year’s focus is on “Tech for COVID Recovery” - Get together with other teens to create new innovations to tackle the spread of COVID misinformation, support small business owners and low-income families coming out of the pandemic, or improve accessibility to COVID and mental health resources.
We’re featuring a number of community leaders from organizations including Mission Neighborhood Health Center, the Lawrence Hall of Science, UCSF, and student-run projects. Our two panels, regarding first-hand impacts of COVID and tech projects teens have created to address pandemic-related concerns, will give you the opportunity to hear from and ask questions directly to those involved in COVID community recovery.
First-time coders are highly encouraged to attend! We have experienced mentors to support each team and provide both intermediate & beginner-friendly STEM workshops, on design thinking, app prototyping and design, game development, website design, and programming in multiple languages.
Like all TeenTechSF events, this event is completely FREE, but advance registration is required! Open to all students 13-18 years old -- no previous coding experience necessary.
